Flashback: The Left vowed to “make America ungovernable” after Trump’s historic election victory

Almost no one in the political intelligentsia, media or establishment elite in Washington, D.C., gave Donald J. Trump much of a chance for victory last November. Polls, Left-wing pundits and politicos were all projecting a Hillary Clinton washout. “Mainstream” media reporters no doubt had their leads written and ready to publish on election night, gloating about how badly Trump did at the ballot box and how wonderful it was to be celebrating the first woman president.

Except, of course, Trump won, not Hillary.

But while most Americans expected Democrats and their Marxist leaders in the electorate to do what they expect conservatives and Republicans to do when Democratic candidates win — concede the victory, suck it up and move on — a strange thing happened: The Left turned hostile, apoplectic and very unwilling to accept that Trump, a former real estate mogul and reality TV star, could beat “the smartest woman in the world.”

No, the angry Left wasn’t about to concede jack to Donald Trump or his legions of supporters. After branding him a racist/bigot/homophobe/kook/maniac for months during the campaign, there was no way a man like him was going to experience the privilege of governing in peace. They would see to that.

And so they set about making themselves and as much of the country as possible completely ungovernable. They decided early on — within days of Trump’s inauguration in fact — that they would deprive him of the same right to lead that they would have demanded Hillary receive had she won instead.

In the process, they would also deprive at least half the country of stability, civility and their constitutional rights. (Related: WAKE UP, people! Alt-Left and Alt-Right are run by the same forces… the goal is “divide and conquer.”)

In early February, a far-Left group calling itself “Occupy Oakland” decided to kick off the “Resistance” with a major protest in the city’s streets, vowing “war” and promising to “become ungovernable,” as this tweeted photo demonstrates:

Then, on February 6, someone calling themselves Chris Hedges wrote on the far-Left website Common Dreams, under the headline “Make America Ungovernable:”

Donald Trump’s regime is rapidly reconfiguring the United States into an authoritarian state. All forms of dissent will soon be criminalized. Civil liberties will no longer exist. Corporate exploitation, through the abolition of regulations and laws, will be unimpeded. Global warming will accelerate. A repugnant nationalism, amplified by government propaganda, will promote bigotry and racism. Hate crimes will explode. New wars will be launched or expanded.

He ends his tinfoil hat-worthy screed with this threat:

Now is the time not to cooperate. Now is the time to shut down the systems of power. Now is the time to resist. It is our last chance. The fanatics are moving with lightning speed. So should we.

Translation: When the Left wins at the polls, elections are fair and legitimate, and the results must be honored and respected. When Republicans or conservatives win, those results are illegitimate because “everyone knows Republicans and Trump supporters are racists,” and we can’t be led by such people.

Well, okay — not all Trump supporters.

In any event, Richard Land of The Christian Post wrote a few months later:

Polls show that perhaps 35% of Americans are committed to total “resistance” to President Trump and his administration, with millions of American citizens dedicating themselves to making America “ungovernable” during President Trump’s tenure. As of mid-week, Trump has the fewest number of confirmed cabinet appointees since George Washington.

Such vehement rejection of the people’s verdict at the polls and such widespread disregard of the tradition of the losing side being the loyal opposition until the next election cycle have caused great concern among American citizens across all positions on the political and socioeconomic spectrum.

We’re seeing this “ungovernable” strategy continue to play out today. Say or think what you will about who is most at fault for the Charlottesville disaster, as we’ve seen since then, the far Left media and political pundit class are exploiting it to bash Trump, label all of his supporters as racist bigots, and use the incident as justification for additional violence — all with the goal of remaining ungovernable.

And the Left will continue to employ this strategy, devised months ago, as long as their candidates and elected leaders are not in power.
